On the night of April 18, 1775 two lanterns were hung from the steeple of the Old North Church signaling the departure of British regulars “by sea,” and launching what would become the American Revolutionary War. Today, those two lanterns have come to represent patriotism and the American spirit. Each year, Old North welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors to learn about the story of those two lanterns and the night that changed a nation forever. Since 1875, Old North has commemorated the hanging of the lanterns with an evening of celebration and remembrance. This year, the Old North Foundation is delighted to welcome keynote speaker, Danielle Allen, political theorist and professor at Harvard University.
Join us Sunday, April 15 at Old North Church & Historic Site and step into the past as we remember this important day in our nation's history!
